Ligas is a six-episode Sky Original legal drama starring Luca Argentero as Milan’s most brilliant, controversial, unpredictable, and charming criminal lawyer. When Ligas is fired from a prestigious firm for his inability to distinguish between duty and pleasure, he realizes that getting back on top will be a challenge he can't face alone. Ligas decides to take on the most complex and hopeless cases to return to centre stage with the help of Marta, an idealistic trainee.
Set in a multifaceted Milan, far from the clichés of glossy city or grey metropolis, the series was filmed in Lombardy – Milan, Barzio, Ballabio – and Rome, including the Military Courthouse, for some of the monumental interiors of Milan’s Palace of Justice, and the Babel Sport Infernetto sports centre, used as Ligas’ club where he sets up his new “office “after being kicked out of his historic, prestigious law firm. The interiors of the San Vittore prison were also created in Rome.
Locations included a range of iconic places in Milan, seen from different perspectives: the melancholic and romantic atmosphere of the Navigli; the skyscrapers of Porta Nuova, icons of a contemporary Milan focused on innovation, and no shortage of historic monuments: the Duomo, a natural setting for key moments where faith, power, and justice converge; Brera, with its literary cafés, art shops, and timeless elegance, is the lawyer's refuge for moments of reflection; while Isola represents young, vibrant, creative Milan. The majestic Palazzo di Giustizia on Corso di Porta Vittoria, with its Rationalist grandeur, hosts the most intense courthouse scenes. Ligas's office is located in an elegant period building in piazza San Babila, in the heart of the fashion district: a symbol of ambition, rigour, and style.
Produced by Sky Studios and Fabula Pictures, directed by Fabio Paladini. The series was written by Federico Baccomo, Jean Ludwigg, Leonardo Valenti, Matteo Bozzi, Camilla Buizza, Francesco Tosco.
The cast includes Luca Argentero, Marina Occhionero as Marta Carati, Ligas's determined apprentice; Barbara Chichiarelli as Annamaria Pastori, Ligas's rival prosecutor; and Gaia Messerklinger and Flavio Furno as Ligas's ex-wife, Patrizia Roncella, and his best friend, Paolo.
