Notte prima degli esami 3.0, directed by Tommaso Renzoni, who co-wrote the screenplay with Fausto Brizzi, arrives twenty years after the release of the cult film Notte prima degli esami, starring Nicolas Vaporidis.
Sabrina Ferilli is the teacher, while the high school students are played by Tommaso Cassissa, Adriano Moretti, Alice Lupparelli, Alice Maselli. The cast also includes Ditonellapiaga, Aleandro Falciglia, Bea Barret, Christian Dei, Teresa Piergentili, and Pascale Reynaud, with the participation of Sebastiano Somma, Gian Marco Tognazzi, and a special guest appearance by Antonello Venditti.
The film, an Italian International Film production with Rai Cinema, was shot in Rome (late October - early December 2025); the approx. 5.5 weeks of filming employed a crew of 68.
The story unfolds almost exclusively indoors. The school gymnasium is used mostly as a gathering place for protesting students and is the setting for the final scene featuring singer Antonello Venditti, performing his famous song at the piano. There are also the homes: Giulio’s; Cesare's, bathed in a vintage atmosphere created by his grandmother, a cutting-edge cook who fusses over his friends; and that of the uncool friend, exploited primarily for the fantastic beach view from his villa.
Exceptions are the scene when the characters played by Sabrina Ferilli and Tommaso Cassissa take a moment to reflect at the foot of the famous Torquato Tasso oak, an ancient tree on the Janiculum Hill in Trastevere, and another featuring a brief foray to Macerata, whose small urban centre transports the students to a different era, far from technology, speed, and contemporary dynamics.

On the eve of their final school leaver exams, a group of high school students in Rome experience one last great adventure together which features secret loves, betrayed loyalties, tested friendships, and desperate plans to deceive the school's most feared teacher. Giulio and his friends navigate the transition to adulthood amidst clandestine parties, scooters speeding through the night, and an impromptu trip to Naples, as they discover that growing up also means making mistakes, forgiving, and having the courage to tell the truth.
