Armony, Dario Albertini’s new film, is named for the protagonist (Valerio Mastandrea), a lonely truck driver who, after the disappearance of his sister, is forced to care for his 6-year-old niece. The film is in the official selection of the 79th Locarno Film Festival.
The film also stars Asia Argento and Ornella Muti, and was filmed in about a month (November - December 2025) in and around Rome, with a crew of approx. 60. Locations included Fiumicino Airport and the seaside village of Passoscuro. In Fiumicino, locations included the area around largo Paolo Borsellino and via dell'Ippocampo, piazza Generale Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, piazzale Traiano Imperatore on via della Foce Micina, and the main entrance, atrium, and interiors of the town hall. Part of the film was shot in Civitavecchia (the industrial area in particular, the port and some city streets), with local extras.
“I wanted to explore family bonds through solitude in Armony. The arrival of an unknown niece forces our hero to take a stand: for me, it was essential to show how the unexpected can rekindle a sense of responsibility,” says Dario Albertini.
Dario Albertini wrote the story and screenplay with Simone Ranucci.
Credits include: photography by Emilio M. Costa, editing Chiara Vullom production design by Daniele Frabetti, costumes by Martina Merlino and the soundtrack by Dario Albertini and Ivo Parlati.
