A family in crisis decides to escape from the city and follow their dream of a life in contact with nature. This is the premise for Benvenuti in campagna directed by Giambattista Avellino, written by Michele Abatantuono and Lara Prando and starring Maurizio Lastrico and Giulia Bevilacqua. It was shot over 6 weeks in summer 2025 in Rome and Ostia antica.
To tackle their existential crisis, the family decides to escape to an old farm in the countryside, convinced that returning to nature is the only real solution. However, their bucolic dream soon becomes an exhilarating fight for survival, because while escaping from the city is easy, escaping yourself is a little less so.
The cast also includes Andrea Pennacchi, Giorgio Colangeli and Luca Ravenna.

Gerry, a university researcher employed contract to contract, his wife Ilaria, a traffic warden always on the streets in the chaos of the city, and their teenage son Giulio, are at a turning point in their lives. Whether it is the two-room apartment where they live, or their libido which has vanished three metres underground, or the city slowly strangling them in its grey tentacles, the Fontana family has made a radical decision: time to return to Nature!
Moving to the open countryside with the dream of turning a ruined farm into a modern agricultural company appears to be the only choice to reassure the couple, helping them overcome their urban anxiety and uncertainty about the future. Except that Nature is really exactly the opposite of serenity. As they will soon discover.
As they experience a series of misadventures, from the affable millionaire neighbour who plays at being a farmer, to young Giulio's discovery of first love, with insect bites, drilling in the wrong places and poor harvests, their green hopes wither miserably.
