Gennaro Nunziante's Buen camino stars Checco Zalone. The main character has an extremely comfortable life with luxurious villas, servants, and yachts. But when his young daughter, Cristal, goes missing, he has to embrace his paternal responsibilities for the first time and find her. Cristal has decided to walk the 800km of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela as a pilgrim, in search of meaning in her life, an immense distance that Checco deems foolish, but which he is forced to undertake. On sunny paths, cold, rainy mountains, through small, remote villages, eating whatever he can find and sleeping in dilapidated hostels overflowing with pilgrims, Checco tries to rebuild his relationship with Cristal. The task seems impossible, but journeys can often change a life, making it truly rich.
The film covers several stages of the Camino de Santiago in Spain, often in public and crowded places, including: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Navarre (Roncesvalles, Pamplona, Puente la Reina, Estella-Lizarra, and Los Arcos); Castile and León (Burgos and Boadilla del Camino); and Galicia (Santiago de Compostela, Finisterre). The first part of the film takes place in Sardinia, on the prestigious Costa Smeralda, in Gallura, and in Rome.
